Saddles & Seatposts
A bike saddle can mean many miles of comfort or a trip of agony. Saddle preferences will depend on body composition, sit bone spacing, riding style and personal preference. One thing is for sure, a good saddle will make any ride more enjoyable.
Seat posts serve as the major adjustment point for a saddle. They are critical for correct body position and can aid in overall comfort. Most riders will use a straight seat post but some are made with increased setback, commonly found on mountain bikes. Others seat posts tip forward, commonly found in triathlon bikes , where steep seat post angles are common place. There are made of many different materials seat posts are made of, including carbon fiber. Carbon fiber seat posts will absorb vibration that would normally be transmitted to the saddle making for a more comfortable ride.
