Major advancements in suspension technology have made things once only dreamed possible. Mountain bike fork manufacturers like Fox, RockShox and Manitou have pushed the envelope to provide more travel, increase tune-ability and make a lighter shock that what was made only 2 years ago. Forks are most commonly coil spring/oil bath or air and vary from 80mm to over 160mm of travel.

One recent change is the shift away from 9mm quick release skewers.  Manufactures are now using 15mm QR, 20mm or 24mm thru axles  in addition to 9mm QR.
